Facing North we see the stars circle, as time passes at the star party. The red lights show the traffic of eager party goers.

@Bronnie: Find a nice dark location with no white lights (street lights or other). This is important. Use a red flashlight during the exposure(s) when needed to see (no white lights). Since your down South, set up facing the South Pole.
Use an old manual slr film camera (mines an OM1), cable release, a wide angle lens, strudy tripod, and some kodak E200 slide film (any regular 100 or 200 speed film is OK too). Set the camera apenture to wide open and to bulb. When ready, open the shutter and lock it open with the cable release. Then just wait. Try different times... 5, 10, 30, 60 minutes.
